Cynsere Williams is a Universal Banker at our Susquehanna Trail branch. She shares how serving in this position has been a rewarding experience for her personally and professionally.
How does Universal Banking differ from a traditional branch environment?
Everyone behind the teller line can do everything, from opening accounts to checking balances. Staffing problems, breaks, or vacations aren’t a problem as everyone is cross-trained in every part of banking. This training makes the experience more convenient for the customer since the Universal Banker can complete their entire request.
What drew you to the position of Universal Banker?
Cynsere reflects, “I desired security in my job, and I knew I would be able to build myself in banking.” Traditions Bank is expanding, and she is excited to see how far her career can take her! She is thankful for the opportunity to be in the Universal Banker role after being a Traditions associate for only three years. “Traditions Bank is relationship-based, and I love to help people. I wanted to feel like I was contributing to the customers.”
What advice can you offer someone who wants to enter banking but may have never had experience?
“I was that person,” Cynsere relates. She came from a credit union previously, and was surprised to learn how different banking is. She encourages these individuals to take the leap of faith, practice their new skills, and ask for help along the way. “Find a supportive mentor who can provide feedback to help make you a better person.”

The team makes Traditions Bank unique. Cynsere’s team members are caring and help her find growth opportunities. Dana A’Hearn, currently a Client Resource Specialist but previously Cynsere’s branch manager, was vital to her growth and success in this role: “She was so supportive and truly cared about my health, wealth, and overall well-being.” Dana was a vital resource for Cynsere, guiding her in the next steps of her career path.
Do you feel your values as a person align with the values of Traditions?
“Yes. We truly live out our RESPECT values,” she says. Cynsere is a conversational person who remembers customers’ names and stories. While interviewing at Traditions, she remembers the personal interactions between associates and customers that stood out to her. “Even between Traditions associates, there is no sense of levelism; everyone is here to work together collectively.”
